5Awesome - Awesome - and - AwesomeDec 28, 2009
By Gerald J. Richards
I really don't know what to say in regard to the other people who have reviewed this product. Perhaps a newer model or other fixes have been made. The bottom line, I like them, A LOT, and I'm very happy with most every aspect of this purchase. These are reasonably priced and well-worth the money in my opinion. I just spent a long weekend at the in-laws where there isn't TV in the bedrooms and, to be honest, a person could go nuts without some form of a diversion. These glasses fit the bill very nicely. I watched a number of movies that I had digital copies for and had previously downloaded to my iPod. Awesome.

Out of the box, these are extremely easy to setup and use. My 13-year old son had these working in a matter of minutes (almost had them setup before the wrapping paper had hit the floor) and he didn't need the manual for any of the setup. You just put in the batteries, plug them in, put them on, and start the movie. That's it. The sound is great and it is easily comperable to any of my more expensive ($60ish) earphones. As you use these glasses, you will become more and more used to them and you will know how to wear them for the best picture. I would estimate that it took me about an hour to really find the sweet-spot; my son seemed to instantly take to them. Adjustments for video and audio are very easy and all on-screen. I was amazed with the picture quality and sound while watching Star Trek, Up, Transformers. I have showed these glasses to a number of people here at work and all were equally amazed with the quality and the entire experience. When I could get my mother-in-law to shut her flap long enough to try them, she even liked them. (If I thought this would shut her up for 10 minutes, I gladly buy her a couple of her own. Hell - I'd even through in an iPod.) I know that I have been responsible for at least 2 other purchases of these glasses... just because I let someone try them for a few minutes.

I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for an excellent compact video solution. These will be going with me on business flights and vacations from now on. I didn't rate them as a 5-star device because the image quality is great but not HD. I guess you can spend another $200 if you want HD quality. Someone commented that there are a lot of wires. Well, I hate to say it but I don't know how you could do it any differently unless you dropped another $200 for the wireless version. To be honest, there aren't "a lot" of wires. There is a wire to connect to your iPod (etc.) and this connects to your batter pack/controller unit. This connects to your headset and there are two earphones that plug in there. I still have both ears so I need both earphones. But that's it. Pretty straight forward and very simple to use.

For reference only, I simply can not watch a movie if either the sound or picture is lacking. I pride myself in having two very good 7.1 surround sound setups w/ 55" LCD TV's at home. I also have a couple of Bose headsets (Quiet Comfort) and their earbuds. My computer has (3) 24" HP displays (triple SLI) with 7.1 surround as well - primarily for video and graphic editing but also for MS Flight Sim. I'm telling you this just so that someone doesn't think that I'm simply accepting these because I have a very low standard. If they were crap - I'd tell you they were crap.

Hope this helps.

3Works Well, But Must Be AdjustedDec 27, 2009
By C. F. Hill "CFH"
The Vuzix 310 Wrap Video Eyewear glasses are somewhat temperamental and difficult to setup, but actually work well once properly configured for the user. Like some of the other reviewers here, my initial impression was that these were going to be useless but as these were given to me as a gift I had to put in a little extra effort to see if it could be made to work correctly. Fortunately patience and dumb luck paid off and I was able to get them working.

First and foremost, the instructions are just awful and almost worthless! I seriously believe some of the one star reviews here would have been higher if the instruction included detail steps for configuring the nose bridge (two are included and I had to switch mine) and focus procedure. I do like that each eye can be individually focused so I don't have to wear my normal glasses when using these. So, after much experimenting and tweaking I was able get these to fit comfortably and work well.

I use these glasses when reclining in my living room easy chair to watch football or movies when my family is monopolizing the main TV (playing games or watching something else). The included earbuds fit comfortably and actually produce good quality sound. I use the included composite video\audio cable as the input into glasses and am happy with the image quality (some slight positioning adjustment is need each time they are put on).

These can be made to work, and even work well, but it might take a good bit of tweaking to get them just right for the individual user.

3Decent if not somewhat flawed headsetJan 04, 2010
By A. M. Hernandez
I got the Vuzix Wrap 310 glasses as a Christmas present and have been using them for about a week. I like them a lot but they are not without their problems. First off the cabling/battery pack make the whole setup a bit cumbersome. You get used to it, though, and its not as bad as it could be. The glasses themselves are pretty comfortable although they are slightly bigger than the pictures make them seem. I found it somewhat difficult at first to get the picture in a nice clear view but after some time it worked out. You can adjust the nosepiece, which I did, and then I had to angle the arms above my ears a bit. Then I could see the picture nicely, even without my prescription glasses.

But how does the picture look? Not so bad actually. The colors are pretty spot on and motion is smooth. Although the native resolution is a low 428 x 240 the picture appears high resolution, like 640 x 480 or better. I found that VGA (640 x 480) content looked best on these glasses. I tried some movies, some anime and a few music videos and they all looked pretty good. On some dark scenes I got this weird negative effect on the edge of one of the screens but I got used to it. Overall decent quality for such a small headset. In terms of size, the virtual screen could be a lot bigger. They claim it looks like a 55" from 10 feet, which is technically true, but it doesn't feel that big. I did some tests and it appears the same size as a 32" from 6 feet or a 22" from 4 feet. Practically it feels more like a 10" screen from 1 foot. Not the advertised big-screen experience but still much bigger than the iPod screen. Note that the glasses only display video content. You cannot see the iPod menus or apps/games with these glasses.

The audio quality was surprisingly good and it goes very loud. It don't see any reason not to use the built-in headphones, although you can use your own if you wish.

The glasses also work with 3D video in side-by-side or anaglyph formats. The 3D video looked pretty cool, even in anaglyph mode, and could prove useful for 3D content creators who wish to show their content on the go and don't own a 3D laptop.

Overall I like the glasses and I will probably use them a bunch for watching anime in bed. I could see this being useful for people who take long plane or bus rides and usually watch movies/shows on their iPod. This is a good replacement for the iPod screen and even can compare to a small laptop screen. Battery life seems good, and it takes AA which are easy to find. For this price I think it is a fair deal and it feels cool to own a cutting edge product like this. I probably won't use these as much as I initially thought but I still think they are fun to have. Just don't expect this huge big-screen experience or you will be disappointed.

5A Little Upfront InvestmentAug 01, 2010
By N. Sands
This does exactly what I thought it would do...so I'm having a hard time understanding the negative reviews. There is a front-end investment on getting it just right, but the directions are simple and straight-forward...you just have to READ them. I had lasik surgery two years ago, so my eyesight is perfect, but right out the box the screen was a little bit blurry and I got scared (the screens are very close to your face - probably why it looked that way - I would need readers to hold something that close to my face). A couple quick turns of the adjustment screws and the images were perfect. Each eye is individually adjustable from +2 to -5 diopter, so even if you wear glasses or contacts, you don't have to have them on to use these - but they sit far enough away from your face that you can easily wear glasses while using them.

I bought these for a very long flight and am really looking forward to using them. I also can't wait to try a 3D movie on them! The sound is awesome except when you are on "pause" or between videos, there is a hum - but I didn't notice a hum during actual playback. If you've seen other similar models and think you're going to look as cool as the guy in the ad (or on the cover of the box of this product) - you're not. The glasses have to sit out a bit from your face and you will have several wires dangling here and there (see picture I posted)...but if you're buying them for looks, you probably aren't serious about your purchase. The fact that they come with two different connectors (iPod and composite), a carrying case, two nose bridges, and three different sizes of ear bud covers is a great plus - they really considered the consumer when they put this together. Great buy for the price!

1Biggest WASTE of MONEY! Do not buy!Dec 09, 2009
By Benjamin Wood "Templar1307"
I bought this for my wife. I almost don't know where to start. For one thing, I struggled to figure out which one of these types of video glasses to buy. It seemed like this one was the best by far. There are loads of wires and things. Most of that doesn't matter because it is very uncomfortable to wear and the video is far from anything that could justify the purchase. It certainly isn't better than looking at the iPod's own video screen which seems more like paradise than these glasses.

I wish that I could return it for a refund. The box has been opened. Biggest waste of money in recent memory. Terrible product.

Do not buy these glasses. Run away. =) Trust me.
